October 2013

Hello again! I had a very busy second month at Hajoca. At the beginning of October, I traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to assist in a relocation of the profit center there. It was great to meet some new people in the company and also be able to see how another profit center operated. It was also a great lesson in how to operate more efficiently in the warehouse; the old warehouse/office setup there was very old and badly in need of an improvement. I think the team there did a great job and I know they will be so happy to have a more functional space. I spent four days there and had an awesome time.

After Greensboro I went back to my PC in Kingsport. I spent the week processing returns and damages to clear out some space in the warehouse, and of course, doing receiving and putting away stock as usual. It involved a lot of forklift driving and rearranging. I had a huge sense of accomplishment when I was done because I could actually see the results of my work.

The next Sunday, I traveled to Philadelphia for the annual trainee conference. I definitely learned a lot from being able to meet and talk to people in the program from all over the country and all different academic backgrounds. I was really impressed with the presentations made by the other trainees. Every year, the trainees have to do a project and then present what they did at the training conference. There was such a diverse range of projects and I honestly learned something from all of them. Since I have only been with the company about six weeks, I didn’t have to do a presentation this year. After seeing all of the presentations this year, I now feel the pressure to do something awesome, so I’m going to get started right away.

Stay tuned for my November post…
