Month 3- August 2013
Every Profit Center (PC) has its own culture and method of warehouse operations. This past month was filled with visiting other PC’s and getting immersed in hands-on training in a non-RF (radio frequency gun) environment. I began the month by spending a week at the Daytona Beach PC. Here I learned how to run manager reports, process customer returns, and close out the cash box at the end of the day. I also traveled to our Lakeland, FL profit center and gained some insight into how they run their warehouse operations and ship products to customers.
Each Profit Center Manager has a preferred organizational structure for their employees and the flexibility to make these decisions is incredible; Hajoca truly empowers PC Managers. Some profit centers have a staff in which anyone at any given time can be driving, servicing customers at the counter, receiving and shipping products, or pulling customer orders.
After spending a great deal of time alongside managers from different PC’s, I got to see firsthand some of the day-to-day issues that managers are faced with. As a manager you can be pulled in so many different directions and have numerous tasks to complete within a day. Having a strong team can make all the difference. The employees at the PC’s I visited were definitely proactive in helping customers and completing additional tasks.
My home PC here in Orlando, FL also had a Ridgid Tools Showcase event where our sales representative for Ridgid and Viega brought in product samples and set up demonstrations for customers. We had the event catered by a great BBQ place here in Orlando (Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ). We had tons of pork, chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, etc. I learned how to operate some of the pipe cutters and ProPress tools. The customers and employees here had a great time!
