March 2014
Let’s see, March made the sixth month which is the half way point for my Phase One. I am amazed at how much I have learned. It is crazy to think that six months ago I didn’t even know what a copper fitting was, and now I am selling tons of product with confidence and am able to make suggestions to actual plumbers about products.
At the beginning of the month I went to Stone Mountain, Georgia for a regional sales meeting with my new region. It was a great opportunity to formally meet my new regional manager, Brad, and all of the other profit center managers in the region. There were several outside sales reps there as well, and many vendor presentations. I learn so much about the company and the industry just from spending time around all of the experienced people that work here.
After that I took a long weekend and went to Las Vegas for the first time. That was such a fun trip! If you have never been, it is definitely something to see at least once in your life. It was especially nice to be wearing shorts and flip flops while everybody in Tennessee was still wearing coats. Thank goodness the weather has started to straighten up a bit before we start preparing the warehouse for inventory.
Our inventory is happening at the end of April, so now we are just spending a lot of time out in the warehouse straightening shelves, luckily it is pretty mild weather here this month so it is actually somewhat nice to be out there with all the doors open and listening to the radio while we work. It definitely makes the work day go by faster to have a big project like that.
